Rear Admiral Pietro Costantino of Naples (born Castellamare di Stabia) was my great-great-great grandfather on my paternal side. I am Roberto Costatnino of Loudoun County and the Commonwealth of Virginia, U.S.A.

Pietro Costantino (1796-1880), later, a Rear Admiral, embarked on the Neapolitan corvette "Fama" on 9 Apr 1812 and on 17 Aug of that year, he participated in the battle that took place in the Gulf of Naples. After entering the gulf, the English brig "Cephalus" succeeded in luring Neapolitan vessels to the Cape of Posillipo, where they were fired upon by the frigate "Imperieuse" which was waiting there. After a lengthy exchange of gunfire, the English vessels were forced to withdraw since they had sustained heavy damage: On 1 Apr 1813, Pietro sailed on the "Fama" again, and on 10 Aug, under De Cosa, along with the vessel "Capri" and some gunboat squadrons, joined an action against 3 English frigates and 2 English brigs, which had approached the batteries of Fort Ovo. The fire from these batteries and from Neapolitan ships forced the English ships to raise the signal to withdraw: Pietro left the "Fama on 1 Apr 1815.
