Notes on Action

On June 15th, the British 32-gun frigate Apollo, Captain Philemon Pownall, chased, and fought an indecisive action with, the French privateer Stanislas, 26, in the Channel. The Apollo lost her Captain and five other men killed, and twenty wounded, The Stanislas ran aground off Ostend in neutral waters, but soon got off, was taken into port, and was there eventually sold to the British Government.
