admiral sir edmund nagle , whilst in service to HRH George IV was commodore of the royal yacht "Royal George" and commanded the Royal George to Dublin in 1821 and to Edinburgh in 1822.
He was appointed to the role of Groom of His Majesty's Bedchamber in 1820 whilst George was still Prince Regent, and served in that role until his death, 6 months before his Sovereign master, thus being the longest serving and most famous of George's "butlers" and in so being the model for Ben Elton & Richard Curtis' "Edmund Blackadder esquire"
