Richard Tyrell was born in 1716. He was the nephew of Peter Warren, and first cousin of Sir William Johnson, 1st Bt of New York. The Warren and Johnson families were "old faith" Irish Roman Catholics, who could "forget" their religion if it interfered with their careers (RC's & other non-conformists could not enter the Army or Navy or become lawyers etc, so they became business men, Cadbury's, Fry's & Rowntree's)

Richard Tyrrell was born 1716 in Dublin and died childless in 1766 aboard a ship on way back to England from Antigua. Catherine Reilly and ann Barnes were his sisters..

Other sites, more believable put his birth as 1716 0r 17. He cannot have been born in 1691 as stated above with his first service as 1740 at the age of 50! Also thought born Kingswear, Devon, not Dublin. Maybe his father?

Correction...Catherine Reilly and Ann Barnes were both sisters of admiral Richard Tyrrell not his daughters and Richard Tyrrell was his nephew not his son!

Thanks, sorted him out a bit.

Tyrrell. you have his date of death two years before his last known service - I think that he died in 1766
