7.1754 | Appointed Ingénieur Constructeur de la Marine at Rochefort He occupied the position of chief builder for 6 months during the illnesses of Morineau and Clairins-Deslauriers . The same year , he was called to Paris to present a vessel construction project limiting the very expensive use of curved timber and reinforcing the solidity of the frame . This project , accepted by the Secretary of State for the Navy Machault d'Arnouville , was at the origin of the construction in Brest on this principle of 2 vessels of 64 guns . In 1755, with Joseph Ollivier and Jacques Luc Coulomb , he was chosen to present a project for the construction of ships of the Compagnie des Indes, capable of being able to make trade and war in the Indies (France was at war for the succession of Austria). his first tests were conclusive because Groignard then settled in Lorient where he became until 1770 the chief builder of the Compagnie des Indes for which he built 18 ships from 1756 to 1769 . | ref:631 | |
