Does seem a possibility.

In the will of John Campbell in 1791 it states 'I give and bequeath to my Nephew, John Campbell, Eldest Son of of my late brother, William Campbell, all my Plate.....'

It also states 'And I appoint the said Thomas Coutts of the Strand, Banker, and the said David Pitcairn and Alexander Pitcairn, Executors of this my Will...'

I have no evidence of that

Was this John C an older brother of the mysterious Commissioner of the Navy William Campbell who married Anne Pitcairn?
