I am a Chapman from America trying to determine if this Richard Chapman is my relative. Another Richard Chapman, circa 1715 was in America and married Joanna Spruill. They had a son Joseph Chapman who had a son Richard Chapman all here in the US. Inglis Fletcher my distant cousin said we are related to the Richard Chapman who built the Ark Royal.
