Dewar was Captain in the ship "Warwick" in 1761, cf.
"Chart of the Islands seen in the Warwick Capt. James Dewar 1761. by Capt. Robert Scott, then an Officer in thar Ship. [London], Alexander Dalrymple 1788"
(Shows the track of the Warwick out and home between Sulawesi and New Guinea).
The maps of Alexander Dalrymple are good sources for "Ships" and "People" (cf. Cook, A.S. "Alexander Dalrymple (1737-1808), hydrographer to the East India Company and the Admiralty, as publisher: a catalogue of books and charts")
