I believe Matteate Brady was the son of Samuel Brady and his first wife Elizabeth Teate. Elizabeth was the daughter of Captain Mathew Teate, hence the unusual first name.

Elizabeth was born c1681 and died between 1721 and 1725. Samuel Brady didn't marry Anne Colby until 1725.

Interesting trivia: in 1722 Matteate became one of the first children in England to be inoculated against smallpox - his father was a physician and a pioneer of inoculation.

Matteate's daughter Sarah married Admiral Sir Roger Curtis.
