30.3.1696  Reference: ADM 106/483/216 Description: Copy judgment of a Court Martial held on 30 March, 1696 on board the Duchess in the Downs, Vice Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell, President, and 22 named officers. Lieutenant Thomas Browne of the Milford was accused of neglect of duty, the court believing the accusation to be frivolous, Acquitted him. Richard Wynne, gunner of the Milford, was accused of embezzling stores. Witnesses called by William Chapman denied knowledge and the gunner was acquitted. Thomas Jennings, boatswain of the Milford was also charged with embezzling stores, found guilty, dismissed from his ship and fined. ADM 106
