27.9.174630.9.1746D'Estourmel arrives in Chibouctou (Halifax) and learns of the death of the Duke of Anville .On September 29, a council of war entrusted him with the chief command and decided to attack Annapolis (Port Royal). "Despair, worry and fury seized M. D'Estourmel to the point that during the night he attacked his life ... seized with a burning fever which soon degenerated into delirium".On September 30, having been seriously wounded with his sword, he resigned his command in the hands of the squadron leader La Jonquière (Taffanel de La Jonquière , marine guard in 1697) and returned to France .ref:673
