James George was my Great Grandfather x4, born 1773 in Freystrop Pembrokeshire and died 1848. Records of him at the time show him as being a Naval Lieutenant. His Royal Navy service record shows him as serving on The Illustrious from July 1811- october 1812, his rank is shown as Lieutenant although he was appointed Commander on 18th July 1811. On leaving Illustrious in October 1812 he served on The Barracouta until 16th November 1814.This is all i have been able to discover so far, i hope you find it of some interest.
