Looks like he died in 1809/10 as his nephew Lambert Watson Hepenstal was administrator of his goods and effects in 1810. Excerpt from the Dopping-Hepenstal papers held at the National Library of Ireland "Receipt for £222 10s 10d received by William Campion from Rev L.W. Hepenstal, administrator of the goods and effects of William Hepenstal, esq, deceased, intestate, late master and commander of HMS sloop of war the Kingfisher, which with the sum of £975 already paid to him is his share of William Hepenstal’s effects which was due to his wife, Elinor Campion, a sister of William Hepenstal. 28 Sep 1810"
