Copy of a letter from Rear-Admiral Harvey, Commander in Chief of His Majesty's Ships and Vessels at the Leeward Islands, to Evan Nepean, Esq dated Prince of Wales, Fort Royal Bay, Martinique, July 25, 1797
SIR, I am to acquaint you, for the Information of their Lordships, that His Majesty's Ship Lapwing, the 6th Instant, being to Leeward of Montserrat, captured Le Veteran French Privateer Sloop, belonging to Guadaloupe, of 8 Guns and 24 men ; and the following day captured La Dorade French Privateer Sloop, also belonging to Guadaloupe, of 4 guns and 74 men.
You will also be pleased to acquaint their Lordships, that His Majesty's Ship Roebuck captured, to Windward of Barbadoes, the 6th Instant, Le Batave Dutch Privateer Sloop, of 10 guns and 54 men, 5 days from Curacoa and had taken nothing.
