San Ramon was captained by José Calvo de Irazábal, at least during the initial campaign against Pensacola in 1781. He was the Commander of the Expedition Squadron, which departed Havana on 28 Feb 1781, arrived off Pensacola on 9 Mar 1781, departed 24 Mar 1781, arrived in Matanzas, Cuba 2 Apr 1781.
