In spite of her carrying fewer guns than that normally required for a First Rank ship, the Vendôme exceptionally remained classed as a First Rank ship until the end of her life. The guns listed above are those she carried by 1671; until 1669 she carried 72 guns comprising 12 x 24pdrs and 14 x 18pdrs on the LD, 14 x 18pdrs and 12 x 12pdrs on the 2nd deck, 8 x 8pdrs on the QD, 6 x 8pdrs on the forecastle and 6 x 4pdrs on the dunette.
