hi i am the executive director of the new london county historical society. Within our collection is the shaw papers. Nathaniel Shaw Jr Built the General Putnam in 1778. He was under the command of Thomas Allon, then Nathaniel Saltonstall. Then Daniel Waters, where she was used in the Penobscot Expedition. She was abandoned when that battle was lost, and burned to keep her out of enemy hands. feel free to email me with any questions.
