His Majesty's Hired Cutter Lord Duncan, Downs, 10th December 1800.

SIR I beg leave to acquaint you of my having seen the convoy safe into St. Helen's agreeably to your directions; and that on my return; (Thursday the 18th Instant,) being off Shoreham'in a thick fog, I fell in with and captured L'Eclair French Cutter Privateer, commanded by Jacquiere Toussaint le Terrier, carrying 3 2-pounders, small arms and 20 men ; from Cherbourg 2 days, and had not taken any thing.
