The above website has an Article "Some Dorset Privateers" which gives the following information on the "Dorset"

(Pinney was my 7 G grandfather)
Contemporary reports indicate she engaged in a sea battle with "Melampe", striking her colours after being dismasted. "Melampe was disabled and subsequently taken by "HMS Tartar" Capt. Lockart.
Melampe cast Dorset adrift, fearing she might sink, prior to being taken.
Dorset subsequently washed ashore at Girvan, on the west coast of Scotland.
