My great great great grandfather an Irish gunner from Granard Co Longford called Dennis Crowden 1765-1815? was on HMS Berwick when she was captured. He was an able seaman. Then spent 6 months in a French hulk off Toulon. Joined her 12th May 1793. Came with many others from a sloop HMS sloop Swan having been in the East Indies.

Can any one help with the diameter of a third rate ships bell. Also did these ships have two bells?
