Easy Peasey. Thomas Lloyd was commander of a different Vulcan, a fireship captured in 1777 and expended in 1781. Use the ship search to find it.

I have the original commission, appointing my ancestor Thomas Lloyd as Master and Commander of the Fireship Vulcan dated 17th April 1778. Family legend has that this ship was lost in storm. The details listed on this page show Vulcan as completed five years after my document. Can anyone help me make sense of this?
